“The EU has a longstanding problem, which hasn’t gone away, with its blind adherence to U.S. Imperialism. But when it comes to China, things could be different. The U.S. has decided to treat China as a security threat, when the truth is that China is just a threat to U.S. economic supremacy. But as long as the U.S. continues to treat China as a military threat, it’s happy days for the American military industrial complex. Europe disappoints, but it’s not stupid. There is a lot of mindless anti-China rhetoric in the European Parliament but less of it coming from the Commission or Council. The EU is really a one-man show, consisting of Germany – it dominates totally. And while Germany wasn’t lying awake at night about a deal or no-deal Brexit, it is very interested in having good relations with China. The Germans will follow the money, and are unlikely to have much of an appetite for following the U.S. down an economic war dead-end, which can have just one winner – the People’s Republic of China.”
“De EU heeft een lang bestaand probleem, dat niet verdwenen is, nl. het blind aankleven van het VSA-imperialisme. Maar als het om China gaat, zou het wel enigszins anders kunnen uitdraaien. De VSA hebben beslist China als een veiligheidsbedreiging te behandelen, terwijl het in werkelijkheid om een bedreiging van de VSA overheersing gaat. Zolang de VSA China als een militaire bedreiging behandelen, bloeit de Amerikaanse militaire industrie. Europa stelt teleur maar is niet gek. Er heerst veel onbedachtzame anti-China retoriek in het EU parlement, maar minder bij de Commissie of de Raad. De EU is in werkelijkheid een one-man show (… met onze verontschuldigingen voor de newspeak fans), nl. Duitsland. Het domineert alles. En terwijl Duitsland niet wakker lag over de to brexit of not to brexit, is het wel uitermate geïnteresseerd in goede relaties met China. De Duitsers zullen het geld volgen en zijn niet bepaald erop uit de VSA te volgen in een economische oorlogsstraatje-zonder-eind, die slechts één winnaar zal kunnen optekenen, nl. de Volksrepubliek China.”
